Great Restaurant’s in London’s Soho

Romilly St, Soho

Normally I wouldn’t walk straight into a kebab shop, but Berenjak is not one to be missed.

Gymkhana ex chef, Kian Samyani, has opened Berenjak offering kebabs inspired by Tehran’s hole-in-the-wall street vendors.

Think an Iranian kebab shop with exposed brick walls and an open kitchen, giving you full view of the chefs manning the flaming tanoor and rotisserie. You can either eat at the counter as we did or you can sit in the enclosed garden and enjoy a private table.

The chefs will talk you through the menu whist they chop and roast.

The food is sensational and so fresh. Delicious kebabs, fresh salads and dips to die for. Think herbs, spices, pickles and grilled meats.

We would also recommend this spot for a vegetarian with all the salad and veg options.

This is the ideal spot for a quick bite on your own or with a large group.

Rupert Street, Soho

The Palomar is an old favourite when visiting Soho. Tucked away on Rupert Street this cosy restaurant is a must. A great spot for a pre or post theatre trip.

The interiors are modern and intimate with parquet flooring, panelled walls and blue leather banquettes.

The menu is an eclectic mix of modern day Jerusalem influenced by southern Spain and Africa. All the dishes are ideal for sharing, as you will definitely want to, as each mouthful is better than the last.

You can sit at the zinc kitchen bar and watch the chefs cook or in the dining room at the back.

Beak St, Soho

The much acclaimed Istanbul restaurant Yeni Lokanta has launched a sister site, Yeni, on the edge of Soho. Chef Er has always attracted the hipster crowd and Yeni Soho is set to do the same.

The décor is simple with white washed brick walls, simple furniture and an open kitchen, keeping all the focus on the incredible food.

The staff are full of energy and are passionate about the food and cocktails.

Chef Er has brought his signature dishes to Soho with a mix of street style and modern Turkish cuisines. The dishes are designed to be shared with a selection of smaller vegetarian options followed by larger meat and fish dishes. The food is fresh, clean and insanely good with ingredients such as pan fried 12-month old feta, beef ribs and scallops.

Leave room for the pudding. We tried a selection and every mouthful was better than the last.

This is a perfect option for a casual lunch out or dinner with friends.
