Two of The Best Hotels in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of our favourite European City Destinations. A large part of the reason that we love it so much is both of these brilliant hotels.

Amsterdam

Pulitzer, a hidden neighbourhood hotel, spreads over 25 connected canal houses, offers a calm and chic vibe. Situated in the ‘9 Streets’ known as Amsterdam’s 'go to area' for boutiques, food and art, you really can't go wrong.

Enjoy the feel of the four different room types. Each room and suite is unique and part of the heritage of Pulitzer’s canal houses.

Features: intimate guest rooms, tranquil inner gardens, meeting & event spaces, a garden café, a hotel bar and a restaurant that serves simple yet beautifully crafted dishes. Pulitzer Amsterdam is a unique blend of up-market, traditional and modern Dutch craftsmanship hidden amongst the city’s iconic canals.

Pulitzer Amsterdam has two options for restaurants from Pause the garden café to Jansz serving classic European cuisine. The Pulitzer’s Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail.

The staff are on hand and friendly and keen to help wherever possible.

The Pulitzer is the more expensive of the two hotels. So if you aren’t wanting to spend as much on your hotel The Hoxton is a brilliant option…

.

Amsterdam

Once the Mayor’s home on Amsterdam’s Herengracht Canal, The Hoxton has created a quirky hotel aimed at the arty hipster crowd.

The Hoxton is situated in the picturesque canal-district known as Nine Streets and featuring a plethora of vintage & designer boutiques and cosy cafes, we so lost track of time strolling up and down the many streets, browsing the rails, feasting on pancakes and yes, if you are after a joint, that too is readily available!

The bedrooms come in all shapes and sizes, embracing the quirks and history of the canal house buildings, from monumental ceilings to double showers, canal views and original beams. We loved the concept rooms, staying in the Floral room with its original ceilings and wooden floors and not to mention enormous double shower.

The staff at the Hoxton were all brilliant, young and welcoming. From the minute you arrive you feel at home and relaxed.

We only nibbled on snacks at the hotel as all our main meals were eaten out so that we could see as much of the city at possible.

Do get some bikes and cycle around the city like a true local.
