3 Amazing Spa Hotels in the UK

We are always looking for somewhere to get away to in the UK for a relaxing weekend. These 3 hotels all are perfect for those little escapes away from home!

Heckfield Place

Hampshire, UK

Heckfield Place is a stunning countryside hotel in the heart of Hampshire. It is definitely one of our favourite places to go to escape city life for a few days. It’s a huge plus it only takes an hour to get there from London and once you’re in the hotel it feels like you’re in a different world. You start relaxing instantly.

It’s fair to say that this hotel is undoubtably a level above any other we have had the pleasure of staying at. Although prices are not for the faint hearted, you can understand why from the moment you enter. The staff are all immaculately presented, warm and helpful, with the most fabulous uniforms. They even manage to make Covid masks look stylish.

The Little Bothy Spa uses its very own ethically sourced, all natural products from the hotels own Wildsmith Skin range and focuses on facials and massages. They have a new spa opening on the horizon which we couldn’t be more excited for.

If you really are on a wellness kick be sure to make use of the gym with the world class Bodyism team who took us through our paces with a focused PT session before we headed off for a cold water dip in the beautiful lake.

The interiors give a sense of serenity with their soft palate and unbelievable attention to detail. An Interesting and impressive art collection throughout the building makes it feel more like a home than a hotel. For me its the little things that one gets excited about...the mini bar. It is like no other with home made snacks and fresh milk from their own cows.

Lucie’s Top Tip…

When you arrive order some of their own bread, fresh produce and flowers so you can take a little bit of Heckfield home with you (they need 24-hours notice)!

The Newt

Somerset, UK

The Newt in Somerset is now a firm favourite with the Lucie team. A stunning hotel just outside Bruton offering beautifully designed bedrooms and a world class spa.

The décor is a mix of modern and traditional and the use of colour in all of the main rooms really adds to the charm. The architecture and attention to detail is second to none, even down to the engraving of the apples on the floor grates in recognition of their apple orchard and cider farm!

The bedrooms are all beautiful. We opted for one of the rooms in the main house (we would recommend these) with a garden view. Our bedroom was a great size with a huge four poster bed, the pillows and mattress were dreamy. The en suite bathroom had incredible views of the garden and was the perfect place for a long soak.

The spa is probably one of the best hotel spas in the UK. It is situated in a beautifully designed converted barn with a lovely indoor / outdoor pool, hydro pool and saunas, salt rooms and steam rooms and hammam. After the sauna we braved the wild swimming and wow does it feel amazing , I can’t recommend it enough.

Once you’ve relaxed in the spa you can head into the main building for some sensational food. We had breakfast and dinner in the main botanical restaurant and then ate lunch in the café in the gardens. The food really was delicious and all feels very earthy and nutritional even if you are having three courses, including strawberry and cream ice cream! Most of the produce is sourced from their extensive gardens and what isn’t grown is sourced locally.

The décor at Lime Wood Hotel, Hampshire, is grown up country casual. I prefer the interiors in the main areas to that of the rooms.

The staff are young and friendly creating a relaxed vibe. Don’t miss out on a pre-dinner cocktail with the incredibly knowledgeable bar staff.

Hartnett Holder & co is the perfect setting for a romantic meal, sumptuous seating with the most delicious Italian dishes, all locally sourced and in season. The wine list is also worth a try with some spectacular reds to choose from. After a heavy dinner you can try the raw restaurant for a healthy lunch.

Lime wood has so much to offer, I always leave planning my return. Don’t miss out on the aerial yoga.

The Herb House Spa instils a sense of calm with facilities including an indoor hydro pool and a mud house to name all but a few.

We have stayed several times, always opting for the outside suites with separate seating areas. The bed linen and pillows are some of the best we have experienced.

Definitely go and visit ‘The Pig’, for a meal whilst staying at at the Hampshire hotel. I gather it makes a good bike ride, but we always drive.
